Why holistic healing?

Because talk therapy isn't always enough.

Our bodies are constantly sending us messages, not only to meet our physiological needs but also to meet our emotional, spiritual and relational needs. If we ignore these messages for too long, they can become repressed and eventually manifest in various forms of physical discomfort, illness or distress.

How does stress impact mental health?

Persistent stress and unresolved trauma communicate through disruptions in the body's autonomic nervous system, leading to

  1. hyper-arousal (overactive "fight/flight" response) causing increased agitation, anxiety, or anger or

  2. hypo-arousal (shutdown or "freeze" response) causing emotional numbness, exhaustion or depression.

Until our nervous systems are guided into the restorative state of "rest and digest" and our bodies feel safe enough to metabolize unprocessed emotions, they will continue to call out for attention like a neglected child crying for a warm embrace.

What do we need most when we're physically sick or injured? That's right . . . REST! And the same is true for our mental health. ♥

Most people in today's world are challenged to find stillness in their minds when they try to rest their bodies. We are conditioned and encouraged to stay busy and productive.

You know the saying, "Coffee! You can sleep when you're dead!"? I had this magnet on my fridge during my 20's, and drank a lot of coffee to help me push through. (They call it "the grind" for a reason.) Eventually, I realized that pushing myself to the limits was weakening my immune system and wearing me down. I began to explore nourishing practices of yoga, meditation and reiki which helped me to experience true rest and a deeper connection with myself than I could have ever imagined.

Now, I am here to share these practices with you. Together, we will determine the best combination of holistic techniques to help you

  • rest and balance your body, mind & spirit,

  • release tension and stress,

  • tune in to the messages of your body, and

  • move forward with increased clarity and peace.

Hi! I'm Jessica Hagy (she/her). It is my heartfelt calling to help people discover how they can heal and find meaning in the suffering they've endured.

By learning how to turn toward my own suffering with curiosity and compassion, I have experienced an inner freedom I never imagined was possible.

My heart resonates with the perspective that we are spiritual beings having a human experience and that spirituality is an active engagement with the mysterious essence of Life. The ever-evolving applications of yoga, meditation and reiki are not bound by any particular belief system and can be practiced by individuals of any age, ability, background or identity. Many people find that these holistic practices enhance a deeper connection with and clarity of their sense of meaning and interconnectedness with all of life.

iRest® is a form of yoga meditation called yoga nidra often called, "the sleep of the yogis," as it takes us to a place between sleep and awake where deep healing can occur.

Guided iRest® (Integrative Restoration) is typically practiced in a lying down position with supports of pillows and blankets to allow the body to deeply relax, the breath to flow freely and the mind to settle into a state of calm.

iRest helps to

  • shift the nervous system from stress mode to restorative mode,

  • increase self-awareness and

  • resolve habits and cycles that perpetuate suffering.

Pronounced RAY-KEY, Reiki is a Japanese healing art that has ancient roots through-out the world. It is based on the belief that our body has an innate ability to heal itself.

During a Reiki session, a practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the client's body, enhancing the flow of life force energy. It is a gentle and non-intrusive method that can support one’s healing intentions while providing deep relaxation and relief of pain and stress.

As you rest and connect, you may feel a slight tingling, heat, coolness, other sensations or nothing at all, depending upon how your body senses energy at the time. You may feel increased relaxation, focus or peace and calm in your mind.

Restorative yoga is very different from the active forms of movement yoga. It involves resting in a supportive nest of yoga blankets and props arranged to help soothe and purify the nervous system, release holdings in the body and mind, and cultivate feelings of bliss.

Most people report a quieting of the mind, deep relaxation in the body and a natural connection with the stillness and peace that abides within.

A flexible, three-tiered pricing structure is available for most services, so you may reflect on what you are able to pay and choose the best fit for you.

In-Person Private Sessions:

  • Community Supporter (supports your peers): $200

  • Sustainer (covers your enrollment): $150

  • Supported (supported by your peers): $100

Online Private Sessions:

  • Community Supporter (supports your peers): $160

  • Sustainer (covers your enrollment): $120

  • Supported (supported by your peers): $80

All services through Your Calm Center are self-pay. If you are interested in paying with insurance, I offer insurance-based therapy through Worcester Youth and Family Counseling Services. You can call 410-641-4598 with any inquiries.
